Andrew Grierson BVSc, BSc
Andrew is the managing director of Auckland Veterinary Centre and has been practicing in South Auckland since 1978. He worked in the early 80's in Kildare, Ireland in stud and racetrack work before returning to start the practice with long time colleague Charles Roberts. Other directorships Dr Grierson holds include Caledonian Holdings Ltd and Lloyd Laboratories NZ Ltd. Since 2003 Dr Andrew Grierson has been the industry appointed NZ Chief Veterinarian of Racing for both Harness Racing NZ and NZ Thoroughbred Racing. Other responsibilities include Convener of the Medication Sub-Committee of the NZ Equine Veterinary Association. He is also co-owner of Woodlands Stud, the standardbred farm which stands the successful stallions Bettors Delight, Pegasus Spur and American Ideal.
Haydn Jamieson BVSc (Dist)
Haydn joined the practice when he graduated from Massey University in 1998. After three years here he spent the next few years in equine practice in England, the last two in an equine referral practice. Haydn has a special interest in lameness diagnosis, and ultrasonographic scanning. Haydn used to enjoy competitive show jump riding before his children took over his life.
Catherine Pemberton BVSc
Catherine graduated from Massey University in 1992, she joined Auckland Veterinary Centre in 2007 after 15 years of mixed and equine practice in Kumeu and referral equine practice in the UK. Catherine has recently completed post graduate study in equine dentistry. In her spare time she assists her brother in training a few standardbreds.
Petra Stegehuis BVSc
Graduated from Massey University in 2010. After a year in Australia she joined us as a mixed practice veterinarian and now works full time in the equine and large animal side of the practice. Petra has a special interest in equine reproduction and also enjoys general practice. She is currently undertaking her Masters Degree through Massey University.
Liv Gibson BVSc (Dist)
Liv graduated from Massey University in 2014 and joined Auckland Veterinary Centre soon after. She is local to the area and has plenty of equine experience having interests in both breeding and competing warmblood sport horses.
SMALL ANIMAL VETERINARIANS
Ailsa Carter BVSc
Alisa graduated from Massey University in 1997 and has worked in various practices in New Zealand and the UK. Ailsa has been an integral part of the small animal team at Auckland Vets since 2005. She has a special interest in surgery and enjoys working through medical cases. Out of work she is very busy with a young family and enjoys riding and music to relax. Ailsa is at the clinic Mondays 8.30am-7.00pm and regular weekends.
Nicola Wood BVSc
Nicola graduated from Massey University in 2005. She has worked in a variety of small animal clinics in New Zealand and the UK, and is experienced in all aspects of companion animal practice. She has an interest in working up medical cases, particularly endocrine (hormonal) diseases. Nicola has been with Auckland Vet Centre on and off since joining us as a locum in 2015, and now works Thursday mornings, Fridays and regular weekends. The rest of her time is spent wrangling her two young kiddies at home. Nicola has a genuine love of animals and has wanted to be a vet since she was 5 years old! She enjoys meeting all the different pets as they come through the clinic and will always have a chin scratch or belly rub for your furry friends.
Harmeet Singh BVSc
Harmeet graduated from Massey University in 2000. Since his graduation, he has worked in small animal practices in South and East Auckland. In these clinics Harmeet loved providing veterinary care for the working and breeding Guide Dogs of the Blind Foundation. To further his knowledge he has completed a post graduate surgery course from the University of Sydney and post graduate papers from Massey University. He has developed proficiency in a wide range of surgical and medical skills. Harmeet is passionate for preventative and wellness care of pets. In his spare time he loves watching sports of all sorts, walking if not running, visiting new places, and spending time relaxing with family and friends.
Kylie Tucker - Kylie has been working as a qualified veterinary nurse for the last few years and joined us as a full time nurse in June 2013. Kylie enjoys all aspects of the job, particularly seeing the satisfaction of an animal's recovery. In her spare time she enjoys 4 wheel driving as well as spending fun times with family and friends. Other hobbies include reading, cooking and just enjoying life. Kylie is currently working part time after the birth of her gorgeous daughter Emily in February.
Alyse Haszard - Alyse is a fully qualified vet nurse who has been a part of the team since Jan 2014. She enjoys both medical and surgical nursing and always goes beyond the call of duty to look after her patients. She loves all animals but please don't ask her how many cats she has!!
Teresa Nairn - Teresa has recently joined the team as a qualified vet nurse.
Karyn Heatley - Karyn is our office administrator and is in charge of accounts and billing.
Amanda Haszard - Amanda recently joined the accounts team. She is happy to answer any of your queries and can be contacted through reception.
Mo Tate - Reception. Originally from San Diego, California, Mo has lived in NZ since 2007. She worked as a veterinary nurse/receptionist in a small animal clinic for two years and has earned a National Certificate in Animal Care. Mo joined our team in 2009 as our receptionist and is happy to assist you with scheduling appointments and seeing to your pet care product needs.
Monique Walker - Reception. Monique joined the team in July 2014. She has many years' experience with dogs and has a background in Animal Control. Her main interests are canine behaviour and aggression. She is happy to help with any training and behaviour queries for your dogs and she always has a treat on hand for them. Monique is here part time and on regular weekends.
Shelby Wrampling-Cumming - Reception. Shelby recently joined the reception team and currently looks after afternoon reception. Shelby has a background working in the animal industry and has a huge passion for all animals. She has worked with dogs for the last 7 years and has attended a canine behaviour and training course to increase her knowledge and experience with all dog breeds. She holds a Pet-Tech First Aid and CPR Certificate. Shelby is bright and energetic and looks forward to helping you with your afternoon enquiries.
